St. Thomas Aquinas FL girls lower 4x2 record

Friday Update from the Pepsi Florida Relays:

While much of the country is just getting the outdoor season started, St. Thomas Aquinas of Fort Lauderdale has already broken the national high school reocrd in the 4x200 relay twice.

A lethal lineup of Krystal Sparling, Diamond Spaulding, Narinah Jean-Baptiste and Kendall Ellis ran 1:33.43 and shaved .04 seconds off the time the group ran at Texas Relays last weekend.

Another US#1 came from the girls triple jump where Darrielle McQueen from North Florida won with 40 feet, 8.25 inches.

In the girls pole vault Erica Sergeant of Lake Mary cleared 12-6 to break a meet record.

St. Thomas Aquinas' girls also won the distance medley relay in 12:05.90 to break another meet record. The school's boys also won the DMR, in 10:27.69.

Stefani Kerrison of Jones ran 13.82 to win the 100 hurdles. That's US#4. Kelvin Williams of Palm Bay won the 110 hurdles in 13.98, which is tied for US#3.

In a pair of very fast 100-meter finals, Teahna Daniels of First Academy ran 11.43 to beat Kaylin Whitney, but the wind reading was 2.2 meters per second.

In the boys final, Terry Jernigan of East Ridge ran 10.44 to edge Levi Cadogan from Barbados (10.45). Those times were wind-legal but Jernigan has already run 10.35 and is ranked No. 2 in the country.

In the invitational 1,600s, Emily Harding and Zack Summerall of Sarasota emerged as the winners. Harding ran 4:56.27 and Summerall led four guys under 4:20 with 4:17.23.
